Statement

I’m inspired by nature around me, every day. Vertical lines, strong shadows, and meandering, disappearing paths move me, because they represent change, and possibility.

I’m fortunate enough to have lived in some of the most beautiful places an aspiring landscape artist can live. I have always preferred oil, though I sometimes do studies in watercolor. I began my art career in the desert Southwest, after years of running and hiking trails throughout the mountains of New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. After 23 years in New Mexico I moved to Hawaii briefly, and then settled in Port Ludlow, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula. I’ve studied art in the United States and abroad.

I frequently begin my paintings en plein air, sometimes finishing them in my studio. I’ve transitioned over time to using painting knives instead of brushes, as I enjoy the simplicity of doing this. In 2024 I began using non-toxic, permanant, lightfast pigments.

Thank you for allowing me to share my vision of the beauty of nature with you.
